As a sorter for the book sale, I get to pick up some books I would not normally read, read them and put them back into the sale. This year I found a book that said on the cover "what to read when you've read the girl with the tattoo series", so I thought I needed to try it. It was the first book on the Inspector Wallender series by Henning Mankell called "Faceless Killers". I was hooked. The characters and the plot line are interesting and real. I have since read (on CD) the second in the series, The Dogs of Riga, which I also loved. I am awaiting the third one to arrive on CD. If you like mysteries, this is a great series.
ReplyDeleteJust finished Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese which I listened to on CD. I loved this beautifully written story about identical twins in Ethiopia. This book talks about love and destiny and how every act we do in life impacts everything to come. Highly recommended.
ReplyDeleteA Fine Balance by Rohinton Misty - a fabulous book that takes place in India during separation through the 80's. It turns out that life is a fine balance and not everyone achieves it. Life is also a quilt of events, all tied together.
